New Paragraph This is a simple test page to validate the necessity of proper punctuation within text content and its impact upon rate of pitch within voice synthesis
New Paragraph The pitch rate bottoms out when the text content is rendered and then starts over within the middle of a paragraph
New Paragraph When a pitch rate turnover occurs it simulates a change in semantic markup for example the beginning of a new paragraph
New Paragraph End of test
NOTE: The remainder of this document includes proper punctuation. Keep in mind for the remainder of the document that punctuation has been visually hidden for design purposes within certain text content elements.
Other areas within an adaptive technology user agent that impact pitch rate have not been tested.
With a lot of these user agents, the user has the ability to configure voice, pitch rate, voice synthesizer used and other verbosity settings. Possibility exists that these settings may impact pitch rate turnover. If such occurs, the results of this simple test could be altered. The standard default settings of the adaptive technology user agents were used for this test.
Again, punctuation along with proper semantic markup, will prevent problems within a Web document that is converted from a video presentation into either audio or tactile presentation of the document.
